Job summary

LHH is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and execution of HVAC and mechanical systems for large-scale commercial projects in Tampa.

You will collaborate with architects, contractors, project managers, and clients from design through commissioning to ensure on-time delivery, budget adherence, and compliance with codes and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience focused on commercial construction.
  • Experience designing commercial HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Experience supporting projects from design through construction and commissioning.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with HVAC load calculation software such as Trane Trace or Carrier HAP is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ASHRAE, IMC, IBC, and applicable mechanical codes.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial construction projects.
  • Prepare and review mechanical drawings, specifications, calculations, and construction documents.
  • Perform equipment sizing, HVAC load calculations, ductwork and piping design.
  • Coordinate with architects, structural, electrical, plumbing, and construction teams throughout project execution.
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Conduct site visits to support construction, resolve field issues, and verify installation quality.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, ASHRAE standards, and project specifications.
  • Support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and value engineering initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
  • Participate in client meetings and provide engineering support throughout the project lifecycle.
