Position Requirements

Summary

This role involves independently performing various assignments using standard mechanical design engineering techniques for small projects or segments of larger projects. The candidate must exercise independent judgment in evaluating and applying design techniques, procedures, and criteria, making minor adaptations as needed. The position involves setting clear objectives and investigating a limited number of variables.

Qualifications

A 4-year engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program and 6-9 years of related experience in mechanical systems within the Built Environment are typically required. Experience with computer software and automated design tools is essential. An FE certification is required, with progress toward PE registration expected within two years.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Collaborate with experienced engineers on planning, cost estimation, and calculations for mechanical design projects.
• Develop detailed plans, specifications, and perform evaluations of vendors and drawings.
• Assist in developing design guides and procedures.
• Prepare technical reports and support field tests and measurements.
• Support proposals and collaborate with colleagues on technical development and field observations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Remain seated at a desk for extended periods, operating computers and visual tools.
• Operate electronic devices and communicate effectively in various environments and conditions.
• Access all project areas, including navigating elevation changes and physical positions like kneeling or standing.
• Transport items up to 25 lbs and follow safety protocols.
