Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for an onsite role in Corning, NY. This contract is for 1 year with the potential to extend. Interested applicants must be eligible to work in the US for minimum of 18 months. This role is not simply design. Candidates should not shy away from hands on builds/ install/ startup/ debug of the equipment they design.

Schedule

Monday-Friday 40 hours with overtime as required

• Typical 40 hours per week.
• May require working weekends/holidays or longer days to support schedule.

Travel Requirements

Domestic travel up to 25% to vendor or plant sites

Travel to a supplier or vendor may be required for equipment check-out before shipment.

• Initial teams call with manager,
• 2nd round will be with additional team members.
• Manager is willing to consider non-local candidates who are willing to relocate at their own expense.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Description

• A senior mechanical design engineer responsible for providing detailed mechanical designs of handling and process equipment.
• Responsible for all aspects of the design, build and debug of equipment including vendor management.
• hands-on mechanical support for the installation, start-up and debug glass manufacturing process equipment.
• This includes working with a multi-functional team (mechanical, electrical, controls, facilities, IT, operations, etc.)
• Involves the application of mechanical principles encompassed in mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, metallurgy, and machine design used for the design, production, operation, and use machinery of all types.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Technology required

• 7+ years of mechanical equipment design experience
• Proficient with SolidWorks
• Competent with structural FEA analysis
• Experience with design, install, start-up and debug of robust mechanical equipment suitable for the manufacturing environment.
• Ability to effectively manage mechanical and electrical trades executing equipment install and debug.
• Knowledge of machine guarding and safety practices and standards (OSHA, etc.)
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to collaborate and work with diverse teams (skills, gender, culture, race, etc.)
