Job summary

DMF Lighting is a fast-growing leader in the lighting industry seeking an experienced mechanical engineer with strong product design and qualification expertise. The role focuses on designing luminaires from concept through manufacturing and ensuring robust qualification processes.

Candidates should have a mechanical engineering degree, 5+ years in design/product development, and hands-on experience with electronics integration, GD&T, and CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Creo.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in design and product development.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in consumer electronics industry.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or Creo.
• Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical products, assembly, and qualification testing.
• Experience with DFM and GD&T.
• Familiar with thermal analysis and testing in electronic systems.
• Knowledge of plastics, aluminum and other metals; injection molding, die-casting, extrusion, sheet metal processes.
• Familiar with certification processes for codes such as NEC or building codes.

Responsibilities

• Design residential and commercial luminaires from concept to manufacturing.
• Champion the NPD process and communicate with all project stakeholders.
• Lead all daily project activities and ensure on-time completion of tasks.
• Qualify the products through the certification process.

We are looking for an experienced mechanical engineer with extensive knowledge of product design and qualification.

Pay range is $90,000-$140,000 (based on skills/knowledge/experience).

Location: Carson, CA (onsite)

Roles and responsibilities are as following:

• Design residential and commercial luminaires from concept to manufacturing
• Champion the NPD process and communicate with all the project stakeholders
• Lead all the daily project activities and ensure on-time completion of tasks
• Qualify the products through the certification process
• Create quality metrics for design and manufacturing
• Mentor junior engineers and verify and improve the quality of designs

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of experience in design and product development
• Minimum 2 years of experience in consumer electronics industry
• Professional with Solidworks or Creo
