Job summary

Austal Usa, LLC is seeking a CAD designer to develop 2D and 3D drawings and to check drawings prepared by CAD Drafters and Designer I-II. You will work with Production Management and cross-functional teams, including business partner representatives, customer representatives and equipment manufacturers.

Ideal candidates bring 4+ years of 3D modeling in a shipyard setting, experience with modular construction, and familiarity with US Navy vessel design.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates Degree or higher in CAD preferred.
• 4 years minimum of 3D modeling experience.
• 5 to 10 years of shipyard design or production experience or equivalent.
• Experience with modular construction methods preferred.
• Experience in design and construction of US Navy vessels preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Able to adhere to strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for 2D and 3D drawing development.
• Checking drawings created by CAD Drafters and Designer I-II.
• Works with Production Management and cross-functional design teams internal and external to the company, including customer representatives and equipment manufacturers.
