Job summary

Ghafari Associates in Chicago, IL seeks a Senior Mechanical Designer to develop mechanical systems for new construction or renovation projects. You will work with supervision on complex drawings, ensure code compliance, and coordinate with other disciplines across industrial, commercial and institutional facilities.

Requires 10+ years of experience, proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD and energy tools, plus strong communication and detail orientation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of related experience in mechanical engineering (HVAC/building systems).
• Experience designing mechanical systems for industrial, commercial and institutional facilities.
• Ability to review drawings and ensure compliance with codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Review project scope and design approach with Project Manager and client.
• Design HVAC, piping, plumbing and fire protection systems; perform calculations.
• Create drawings using Revit/AutoCAD and support junior staff.
• Review submittals and ensure design content meets specifications.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and maintain organized project files.
• Communicate scope changes to leadership and project team.
