Job summary

Ghafari Associates, LLC in Chicago, IL seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design and refine mechanical systems for new construction or renovation of industrial, commercial, or institutional structures. You will develop construction drawings and specifications ensuring installation and control within building codes.

Responsibilities include CAD work in Revit/AutoCAD, energy modeling, field verification, and coordinating with clients and project teams to meet budget and schedule with top-quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
• 5-14 years of related experience in mechanical engineering (HVAC/building systems).
• Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD, Trane Trace 700 or other building energy calculation software, and Bluebeam.
• Knowledge in ProjectWise BIM360 and Carrier HAP a bonus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Review project scope, mechanical budget, constraints and design approach with PM/client.
• Prepare feasibility studies and project cost estimates.
• Lead design of mechanical systems including HVAC, piping, plumbing, and fire protection.
• Create engineering documents using CAD (Revit/AutoCAD) or Bentley; supervise junior staff.
• Review drawings for omissions, errors, interferences and code compliance.
• Develop and mentor less experienced staff.
