Bell & Associates, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with defense industry experience to lead a small engineering team and improve complex electromechanical systems in production and field use.

You will quickly understand existing designs, evaluate changes, and deliver practical revisions that preserve functionality. This full-time, on-site role in Phoenix, AZ requires hands-on SolidWorks design, PDM documentation, and collaboration with electronics and system integration

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• At least 8 years of progressive mechanical design experience, or a master’s degree plus at least 6 years, including defense electromechanical products/systems.
• Ability to understand complex existing designs quickly and deliver accurate revisions through controlled production release.
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, including complex assemblies and production drawings, and experience with PDM systems. Creo or NX experience are acceptable.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, drawing standards, and design for manufacturability and assembly.
• Eligible to obtain a U.S. government security clearance. No active clearance required.

Mansioni

• Review existing assemblies, drawings, and system configurations to understand design intent, dependencies, and constraints.
• Revise and extend mechanical designs for platforms, including sensor mounts and enclosures.
• Assess how proposed mechanical changes affect system performance.
• Make hands-on SolidWorks revisions and maintain models, drawings, BOMs, and changes using PDM.
• Use tolerance analysis, material selection, structural assessments, and FEA as needed.
• Set priorities, assign work, manage schedules, and guide a small team.
• Review team designs, provide technical guidance, and ensure revisions are release-ready.
• Communicate design changes and tradeoffs to engineers, technicians, production staff, and leadership.
• Collaborate with production, suppliers, and other disciplines to resolve fit, clearance, assembly, and field issues.
• Support builds, testing, and verification; investigate failures and implement corrective actions.
• Improve manufacturability, reliability, and field serviceability while balancing cost and turnaround.
