Job summary

Northrop Grumman in San Diego, CA, seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer - Level 3 to join the MEP Team. The role focuses on designing complex tool assemblies for manufacturing and testing of aerospace components, leveraging Siemens NX and Teamcenter, and contributing to PDR/CDR reviews.

The position requires a BS/MS in mechanical or aerospace engineering with relevant experience, knowledge of GD&T, and DFMA, and it involves interfacing with manufacturing, procurement, and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering with relevant design experience.
• Experience in aerospace product definition and design.
• Knowledge of materials and assembly methods used in aerospace.
• Ability to design complex tool assemblies to support manufacturing/testing.
• Proficiency with CAD and PLM systems (NX/Teamcenter), GD&T, and DFMA.

Responsibilities

• Design complex assemblies including high strength & stiffness laminates and interfaces.
• Create, prototype, and analyze tools and fixtures for manufacturing/testing.
• Develop components and subsystems using CAD and analytical tools.
• Produce 3D designs and 2D drawings for reviews (PDR/CDR/MRR).
• Support manufacturing and testing of fixtures and hardware; assist with plans.
• Coordinate with procurement and program teams to manage priorities.
