Job summary

Balance Staffing Company is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design and documentation of power transformers for utility, data center, and BESS applications. The role requires independent management of complex projects and mentorship to the engineering team.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in mechanical design engineering, hands-on experience designing power transformers, and strong CAD/FEA skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering or a related field.
• Experience designing power transformers or similar heavy electrical equipment.
• Experience with engineering calculations, manufacturing documentation, and customer specifications.

Responsibilities

• Design transformer mechanical assemblies and prepare drawings based on specifications.
• Develop solutions for transformers in BESS, data center, utility applications (0.5–8 MVA, up to 36/1 kV).
• Create detailed assembly/manufacturing drawings and BOMs.
• Apply FEA to optimize designs for performance and manufacturability.
• Mentor engineering team and collaborate with cross-functional groups.
