Job summary

HD Hyundai Power Transformers USA, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with extensive experience in large power transformer design and analysis to lead electrical design activities, calculations, and design reviews.

You will support U.S. utilities and consultants, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with IEEE, ANSI, and IEC standards while applying advanced software tools to optimize transformer performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in power transformer electrical design.
  • Strong knowledge of transformer design principles, electrical calculations, and analytical software.
  • Experience conducting design reviews and technical discussions with U.S. utilities, consulting engineers, and EPC customers.
  • Thorough understanding of IEEE C57, ANSI, and IEC standards.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and customer-facing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical design and technical review of power transformers.
  • Perform transformer design calculations, including impedance, losses, short‑circuit forces, thermal performance, dielectric design, insulation coordination, and cooling system analysis.
  • Utilize transformer design and analytical software to develop and optimize transformer designs.
  • Participate in Design Review Meetings (DRMs) with customers, consultants, and utilities, providing technical presentations and engineering support.
  • Review customer specifications and ensure compliance with IEEE, ANSI, IEC, and customer requirements.
  • Support factory acceptance tests (FATs), root cause analysis (RCA), engineering changes, and field technical investigations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in the design and analysis of large power transformers.   • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
