Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer in San Francisco to lead motor mechanical designs, create released CAD drawings, and own tolerances, interfaces and validation from concept through prototype builds.

You will work with electromagnetic, electrical, test, and manufacturing teams, develop laminations, stack assemblies, bobbins, fixtures, and low‑volume production processes, ensuring repeatability and documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and building motors and precision electromechanical assemblies.
• Proficiency with lamination stacks, bobbins, winding interfaces, or related tooling.
• Strong CAD skills with hands‑on metrology and fixture design.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical designs for motor components and prototype hardware.
• Own stator/rotor geometry, interfaces, fits, tolerances, and validation.
• Design, fabricate, and debug fixtures for winding, stacking, and inspection.
• Build and test prototypes; use data to improve designs and processes.
• Establish low‑volume production workflows with revision control and traceability.
