Job summary

SiPhox in Burlington, MA is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer to design and own key subsystems of a first-of-its-kind home diagnostic platform. You will collaborate with production teams to balance elegant usability with scalable manufacturability.

You will lead mechanical design, MCAD modeling, and verification, mentor colleagues, engage suppliers, and drive quality improvements as we scale from pilot to high-volume production.

Qualifications

• Experience scaling products from prototype to high-volume production.
• Experience with pilot and full-volume production systems and quality controls.
• Expert MCAD user with injection molding design experience.
• Experience with mechanical assembly techniques (ultrasonic/laser welding, clip design, adhesives).
• Familiar with ISO 13485/14971 in med device (nice-to-have).

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical designs for subsystems; ensure functionality, reliability, manufacturability.
• Design parts for high-volume injection molding and automated assembly.
• Apply rapid prototyping to accelerate development with minimal guidance.
• Plan and execute tests to validate designs and improve performance.
• Create design specs with 3D/2D MCAD per ASME Y14.5 or ISO 8015.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and scientists on mechanical challenges.
• Lead root-cause analysis and drive design or process changes.
• Own system and subsystem requirements and verification plans.
• Mentor engineers on MCAD, DFM/DFA, and verification approaches.
• Review designs for manufacturability and standards compliance.
• Engage with suppliers for components you own.
