Job summary

Kalamazoo-Fabricating is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to prepare equipment drawings for approval, manufacturing, and installation. You will lead projects through design, fabrication, and start-up, serving as the primary customer contact and coordinating with shop personnel.

Responsibilities include reviewing specs, creating approval drawings, and ensuring design details are implemented before shipment. Strong design and project management skills are essential, with travel typical at 10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience; strong design background.

Responsibilities

• Promote excellence throughout the department.
• Development of proper and efficient equipment designs, including large scale systems.
• Production of detailed mechanical equipment drawings using CAD (Inventor and AutoCAD).
• Management of projects to which you are assigned.
• CAD drawing file maintenance.
• Interface with shop floor fabricators and tradesmen.
• General project engineering and customer contact, including occasional customer visits.
• Production of quality and accurate parts, models, and drawings.
• Drawing transmittals.
• Adherence to schedules and release dates.
• Provide prompt and effective communications with customers and co-workers.
• Understanding of our company procedures and processes.
• Any duties or tasks that may be assigned by the manager
