Job summary

Nippon Seiki North America, located in Auburn Hills, MI, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of automotive instrument clusters (IPC) and head-up displays (HUDs).

The role involves creating 3D models and 2D drawings, performing GD&T, mentoring in optical design, and delivering engineering presentations to customers and internal teams. Travel 10-15% domestically/internationally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; coursework in Strength of Materials, Design for Six Sigma, Statics & Dynamics, CAD/CAE, Optics.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of automotive instrument clusters (IPC) and HUDs, create 3D models and 2D drawings with GD&T.
• Mentor optical design and light simulation using industry software.
• Provide technical/design support during PV and pre-production phases, root-cause analysis and 5-Phase reporting.
• Interface with customers to capture design requirements and compile Specification Confirmation Reports.
• Lead DFMEA, DVP, and Failure Analysis; perform structural, thermal and dynamic analyses (FEA).
