Job summary

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is sought to lead the design, troubleshooting, installation, and improvement of complex industrial machinery. The role reports to the President/Owner and offers significant autonomy, with hands-on hydraulic, FEA, and field-troubleshooting responsibilities.

The candidate will design extrusion presses and material-handling systems, create manufacturing-ready drawings, coordinate large installations, and support field service with strong project-management skills.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience designing industrial machinery and equipment.
• Strong proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD for 3D modeling and 2D drawings.
• Hands-on knowledge of hydraulic systems, including design and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and interpretation of results.
• Familiarity with industrial electrical systems and components.
• Experience with machine building, assembly oversight, and project management.

Responsibilities

• Design industrial machinery and equipment using 3D CAD software.
• Create manufacturing-ready 2D drawings and detailed engineering documentation.
• Reverse-engineer existing machinery to support repairs and upgrades.
• Coordinate movement, installation, and commissioning of large systems and equipment.
• Plan and schedule engineering and shop activities for efficient utilization.
• Review and interpret FEA results to validate designs.
• Travel 10%-15% for customer site visits, installations, and troubleshooting.
