Job summary

Medtronic in Brooklyn Center, MN seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to drive rechargeable energy components for implantable medical devices. You will design, develop, and qualify components, ensuring safety, reliability, and performance while collaborating with Systems Engineering, Product Development, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams.

The role emphasizes NPD support, verification and validation, and design controls.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or STEM discipline and minimum of 4 years of technical work experience OR advanced degree with 2 years of work technical experience.
Experience in a highly regulated medical device environment is preferred.
Strong engineering analysis and problem-solving skills are required.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, characterize, qualify and commercialize energy components for implantable devices.
Apply analyses, modeling, and experiments to verify component performance, reliability and robustness.
Support New Product Development programs through concept development, design refinement, testing, and commercialization activities.
Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and other teams to resolve issues and drive design decisions.
Generate and maintain design history files and ensure regulatory compliance and design controls.
