Job summary

Career Collective in Fort Lauderdale is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for building projects. You will create cost-efficient layouts and equipment selections while coordinating BIM/Revit drawings with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients.

You will ensure compliance with building and mechanical codes and assist in coordinating with project partners from schematic design through construction documents.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience designing mechanical systems for commercial/building projects.
• HVAC design experience; plumbing/fire protection experience a plus.
• Proficiency with Revit and BIM and other mechanical design software.
• Knowledge of applicable building and mechanical codes.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical systems for building projects.
• Develop cost-effective system layouts, sizing, and equipment selections.
• Create and coordinate BIM/Revit drawings with other disciplines.
• Support projects through schematic design, design development, permitting, and construction documents.
• Perform site visits, review shop drawings, and assist with punch lists during construction.
• Help ensure projects meet applicable building codes and client requirements.
• Work directly with clients, architects, contractors, code officials, and other project partners.
• Help define project scope and identify potential changes or issues before they impact the project.
• Provide guidance and support to junior mechanical designers and engineers.
