Job summary

Antares in Torrance, CA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer II to lead the design of the Power Conversion System (PCS) hardware, from concept through fabrication and test. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering.
• 5+ years of hands-on CAD, analysis, fabrication support, and test.
• Experience designing pressure-retaining or leak-tight hardware.
• Experience releasing production drawings and models with GD&T.
• Experience with elevated-temperature or high-stress hardware.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical arrangement and pressure budget of the PCS and close loop with cycle performance.
• Design the working-fluid pressure boundary including piping, joints, penetrations, and isolation with leak-tightness as a requirement.
• Define mechanical arrangement, maintenance architecture, supports, and alignment of rotating machinery.
• Manage interfaces to major PCS components, reactor, and safety systems.
• Support test rig design and instrumentation placement; use data to improve component life.
• Engineer high-temperature machinery with advanced materials and metal selections.
• Perform design-for-manufacturability and assembly assessments.
