Job summary

Rochester Sensors LLC, an Amphenol company, seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Coppell, TX to architect and develop mechanical systems for rugged liquid level sensing technologies used in heavy equipment.

The role requires 8+ years in rugged industrial or automotive design, experience with harsh environments and electronics integration, and familiarity with APQP, DFMEA/PFMEA and IATF 16949 processes. This is a non-remote, on-site position in the DFW area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years designing rugged industrial or automotive products.
• Proven experience developing mechanical systems for sensors or instrumentation.
• Experience with harsh environment product design, ruggedized electronics packaging, vibration- and fatigue-resistant systems.

Responsibilities

• Design the mechanical architecture for advanced liquid level sensing systems (guided wave radar probes, capacitive structures, ultrasonic housings).
• Develop sensor designs capable of surviving years of operation in extreme duty cycles.
• Create mechanical systems that withstand severe vibration, extreme temperatures, dust, chemicals, and pressure variations.
• Lead prototype development, testing, and design iteration balancing performance, reliability, manufacturability and cost.
• Work within APQP, DFMEA/PFMEA, design verification/validation, and IATF 16949 quality systems.
