Type One Energy Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Knoxville, TN. The role focuses on first-of-a-kind design and integration for stellarator fusion power plants, mentoring junior engineers and delivering concept to final designs for vacuum vessels, divertors, and plasma-facing components.

You will translate requirements into functional components, develop designs and specifications, and validate models using FE A/CFD tools while collaborating across engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering; Master’s preferred for advanced roles.
• Strong background in mechanical design of complex systems.
• Experience with FEA/CFD tools and CAD software.

Responsibilities

• Translate design requirements into functional stellarator components and systems.
• Develop system and component designs and specifications for stellarator systems.
• Analyze and align interface requirements between stellarator systems.
• Develop and validate FE A and CFD models using ANSYS, COMSOL, and other tools.
• Develop procurement packages and resolve questions during fabrication.
