Job summary

TSC in Washington, DC seeks a Mechanical Designer to support on-site mechanical systems for communications equipment. The candidate will design, prototype, test, and sustain complex assemblies, working with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver robust hardware.

The role requires hands-on experience with SolidWorks, detailed drawings, and coordination with suppliers and technicians. U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain DoD clearance are required; local travel may be involved.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of mechanical design and product development experience.
• Proven ability to design, prototype, test, integrate and sustain complex mechanical systems.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD/CAM and creating technical drawings and specs.
• Hands-on fabrication, assembly, testing and troubleshooting of mechanical hardware.
• Strong understanding of materials, machining, tolerances and DFM principles.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and customer interaction skills.
• Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain/maintain DoD TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical System Design & Development: create robust assemblies and components.
• Prototype, test, analyze failures and implement corrective actions.
• Integration & Sustainment: assist integration into platforms and coordinate with suppliers.
• Documentation: produce engineering drawings, specifications and design analyses.
• Team interaction: collaborate with customers, engineers and technicians to meet requirements.
