Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Fremont, CA)

We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Fremont, California. The ideal candidate will design enclosures and chassis for complex electromechanical systems, following design requests from application engineers and customer specifications. Responsibilities include creating 3D-model layouts, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, documentation, thermal and structural analyses. The engineer will generate presentations for customer reviews and provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Establish all necessary documentation for manufacturing and building requested products.
• Ensure accuracy of 3D models, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and manage administrative tasks related to drawing releases.
• Perform thermal and structural analyses.
• Communicate effectively with sales, engineering, manufacturing staff, and customers.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

Qualifications:

• Thorough knowledge of drafting standards.
• Proficiency in 3D-CAD systems, preferably in One Space Designer.
• Ability to design with good practices and proper tolerances for repeatability.
• Experience in enclosure and sheet metal design.
• Knowledge to perform thermal and structural analyses.
• Creativity and innovation.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently on assignments requiring sound engineering knowledge.
• Skill in establishing 3D-model layouts, assembly drawings, and detailed manufacturing drawings using cost-effective techniques that meet cost and performance criteria.
• Experience designing enclosures that meet emerging packaging standards.
• Experience with Flotherm for thermal analysis and structural analysis skills.
• Creativity and innovation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to learn new software, manufacturing processes, and standards.
• Excellent communication skills with sales, engineering, manufacturing staff, and customers.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent experience.
• Certification in 3D-CAD systems.

Compensation and Benefits:

Target salary: $130,000 to $145,000 plus bonus. Elma offers a competitive salary based on experience and a comprehensive benefits package.
