Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer to design, develop, and validate mechanical systems meeting performance, manufacturability, and cost targets. You will work with cross-functional teams to bring concepts to production and mentor less experienced engineers.

The role emphasizes ownership, autonomy, and impact within a fast-growing advanced energy company, with collaboration across engineering, operations, and vendors.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• A proven track record delivering production-ready hardware.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of major subsystems with focus on performance, manufacturability, and cost.
• Mentor junior engineers and review designs for rigor and consistency.
• Develop 3D CAD models and drawings; apply GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Perform structural, thermal, and fluid analyses to validate performance.
• Oversee prototyping, assembly, testing, and data interpretation.
