Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a fast-growing consumer electronics innovator. The hybrid role is based in East London, combining in-office collaboration with remote work.

You will drive mechanical design from concept through mass production, collaborating with industrial design, electrical engineering, and product management to deliver high-quality products. The ideal candidate has 7+ years in mechanical design for consumer electronics, strong CAD/CAE skills,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience in mechanical design for consumer electronics.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360).
• Experience with FEA/CFD simulation tools is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of plastic injection molding, metal stamping, and other manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of material selection for consumer electronics applications and DFM/DFA principles.
• Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills for a hybrid team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of consumer electronic products, including enclosures, mechanisms, and thermal solutions.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and BOMs using industry-standard software.
• Perform engineering analysis, including stress, thermal, and tolerance analysis, to ensure product performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with industrial designers to translate aesthetic concepts into manufacturable designs.
• Work closely with electrical engineers to integrate PCBAs, batteries, and other components.
• Specify and source components, working with suppliers to meet quality and cost targets.
• Develop and execute product testing plans, including functional, environmental, and reliability testing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical design issues during prototyping, pilot runs, and mass production.
• Conduct DFM and DFA reviews and stay updated on manufacturing technologies.
