Job summary

Aurora is hiring a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Mountain View, CA to lead electro-mechanical design of the Aurora Driver Module, combining compute hardware and ECUs for safe autonomous operation.

You will drive concept-to-production designs, partner with electrical, manufacturing, and reliability teams, and ensure robustness for mass production in safety-critical environments. Hybrid in-office work is expected.

Qualifications

• BS / MS in Mechanical Engineering with 4+ years of industry experience.
• Proficient in CAD design and 2D drawing with GD&T; Catia 3DX preferred.
• Experience interfacing mechanical parts with PCBAs and sensors.
• Exposure to high-volume manufacturing like injection molding, diecasting, stamping.
• Experience designing for harsh environments (shock, vibration, temperature cycling).
• Ability to perform tolerance analysis and apply Worst Case / RSS.
• Strong presentation and documentation for critical design decisions.
• Willingness to travel 3–4 times per year within the US and internationally.
• Experience with automotive ECUs or high-performance compute systems in vehicles.
• Experience with high power, high thermal density electronics and integration challenges.

Responsibilities

• Support development of the Aurora Driver Module, integrating compute hardware with ECUs for production lines.
• Own module design and its integration into the vehicle architecture from concept to production.
• Drive robust, manufacturable designs for compute hardware used in safety-critical environments.
• Support and sustain products operating on autonomous roads today.
• Collaborate with electrical, manufacturing and reliability teams to deliver integrated hardware solutions.
