Job summary

Aurora is seeking a Staff Hardware Reliability Engineer to lead reliability testing of automotive power and compute hardware in our autonomous vehicle stack. You will work with electrical, firmware, mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure system dependability under demanding field conditions.

You will design and monitor stress, environmental, and failure-mode analyses, analyze failure data, report findings, and mentor others to raise the reliability bar across products and teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hardware reliability engineering experience.
• Experience in automotive, aerospace, or heavy-duty vehicle sectors.
• Knowledge of HALT/HASS, vibration, thermal cycling, humidity.
• Experience with firmware-hardware interactions.
• Ability to lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (Python, JMP) and reliability tools (Weibull++, dfMEA).
• Understanding of hardware requirement concepts.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee hardware reliability testing for automotive power and compute hardware.
• Collaborate with electrical, firmware, mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure system reliability.
• Develop, implement, and monitor reliability testing protocols (stress tests, environmental tests, and failure mode analysis).
• Analyze failure data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Create detailed reports on reliability testing, findings, and corrective actions and present them to stakeholders to drive decisions around hardware improvements and risk.
• Drive continuous improvement in hardware design and development processes to meet automotive reliability standards.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to reliability engineers, helping drive adoption of reliability best practices across teams.
