Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Arens Controls in Arlington Heights, IL is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, development and validation of automotive shift selector products and related technologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, interface with customers, and support the full life cycle from concept to production.

The role requires 8–12 years of experience in mechanical design, strong CAD (SolidWorks) skills, and knowledge of GD&T, FEA, and thermal analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• 8-12 years of product development or project leadership experience.
• Experience with tolerance analysis, GD&T.
• Experience with stress analysis including FEA.
• Experience with thermal analysis is preferred.
• Experience with manufacturing processes including injection molding, sheet metal stamping, prototyping.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-going conceptual and detailed design, design review and engineering analysis for NPI projects.
• Ensure objectives regarding aesthetics, functionality, specifications, and manufacturability are met.
• Interface with customer engineering in design of new components and assemblies.
• Prepare, deliver, and release engineering specifications and data for product testing.
• Support quality processes and standards (APQP, DFMEA, PFMEA, IATF 16949, FMVSS).
• Be available for occasional travel to support customers and/or suppliers.
