Job summary

Molex seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Georgetown, Texas to lead the mechanical design and development of Aerospace and Defense electronic components and connector systems from concept through production and field support.

You will set technical direction, drive DFMEA/DFM practices, and collaborate across R&D, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and customers while mentoring the engineering team. Strong CAD/CAe, GD&T, and cross-functional communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience with electronic components or connectors.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and GD&T for complex assemblies.
• Experience with CAE tools (FEA, thermal, vibration) and interpretation of results.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead feasibility studies and define requirements for new product initiatives.
• Architect and develop connector systems and electronic components using design best practices.
• Create and approve 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings with GD&T.
• Lead prototype development, testing, and validation activities; define test plans and criteria.
• Apply CAE tools to optimize strength, stiffness, fatigue life, and thermal performance.
• Drive DFMEA/PFMEA and manage risk mitigation and corrective actions.
• Define manufacturing processes and tooling for injection molding, stamping, forming, and plating.
• Coordinate vendor selection and collaboration to meet cost and quality targets.
• Manage projects end-to-end including schedules, budgets, and design reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead design reviews toward continuous improvement.
• Support product launches, transfer to production, and post-launch sustainment.
