Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Valley Green, PA

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for leading concept generation, design, verification, and qualification of custom cable designs. The engineer will ensure that product designs are manufacturable and meet customer requirements—including electrical, mechanical, and environmental specifications. The role requires close customer interaction and collaboration within a global cross-functional team. The engineer will work closely with internal and external suppliers and manufacturing personnel, supporting the development and validation of prototypes through to production, and interfacing with key customers.

Responsibilities:
  1. Lead and manage the entire product lifecycle—from capturing the voice of the customer, through prototyping, testing, qualification, and project execution.
  2. Collaborate with marketing and customers to define product needs and performance requirements, assessing technical risks.
  3. Coordinate with internal and external manufacturing disciplines (stamping, plating, molding, assembly) to optimize design for production processes.
  4. Develop and execute product cost reduction plans for cable assemblies.
  5. Select appropriate metal and polymer materials based on performance, cost, and sourcing considerations in collaboration with development engineering.
  6. Work with NPI and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure smooth transition of products to manufacturing.
  7. Present concepts to customers early in development, interpret feedback, and incorporate revisions into designs.
  8. Define product, application, and packaging specifications.
  9. Manage resolution of customer application issues.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with relevant experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience, preferably with high-speed cable design and assembly.
  • Experience with design for signal integrity performance is preferred.
  • Knowledge of industry standards is a plus.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, GD&T principles, and statistical engineering methods.
  • Effective team collaboration and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with global customers and all organizational levels.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
