Job summary

3D Systems Corporation in Wilsonville, Oregon seeks a Senior Design Engineer with a strong systems engineering background to advance Multi-jet printer technology. You will join a cross-functional team on cutting-edge additive manufacturing projects, with a hybrid schedule requiring onsite presence three days a week.

The role emphasizes development of mechanical components, validation through testing, and cost-driven design optimization in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in electro-mechanical product design.
  • Minimum of 3 years SolidWorks experience is required.
  • Knowledge of low volume manufacturing processes (sheet metal, castings, injection molding, extrusions).
  • Development of creative design solutions from inception to product introduction.
  • Structured approach to design optimization, failure analysis, DOE and problem solving.
  • Experience with engineering test fixtures to validate performance using Arduino controllers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience with ME CAD tools, solid modeling and FEA.

Responsibilities

  • Work on complex problems in a multi-disciplined team environment resulting in launching new 3D printers.
  • Develop mechanical components and subsystems including specification, design, analysis and testing.
  • Select part configurations, materials and manufacturing processes to achieve reliable function at low cost.
  • Validate design through analysis and testing, designing test fixtures and instrumentation where necessary.
  • Measure and track sub-assembly performance, schedule, reliability and cost targets.
  • Document design and testing.

We are seeking a Senior design engineer with a strong background in systems engineering. The role will be working on the Multi-jet printer technology for the 3D Systems team in Wilsonville. This role will be an integral part of a cross-functional team. This role has a hybrid work schedule requiring the person to be onsite 3 days a week.

What You Will Do

Preferred Education and Experience
  • MS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with Design for Assembly/Manufacture/Test, GD&T methods, Data Analysis, Statistics and Reliability engineering, DOE, FMEA, MSA, Analytical and structured problem solving a plus.
  • Knowledge of machine shop and prototype processes is a plus.
