LHH is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of high-precision CNC grinding machinery from concept through manufacturing, assembly, testing, and post-installation support.

You will use SolidWorks and AutoCAD to translate customer requirements into reliable, manufacturable solutions, guide cross-functional teams, and drive continuous improvement in performance, quality, and cost.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of practical mechanical design experience with machinery and capital equipment.
• Experience with CNC grinding machines preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Strong communication and project management skills.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading the design and development of high-precision CNC grinding machinery from initial concept through manufacturing, assembly, testing, and post-installation troubleshooting. This role translates customer requirements, sales input, and application-specific needs into innovative, reliable, and manufacturable mechanical designs.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will develop and refine machine concepts using advanced 3D CAD software, lead design reviews, collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and manufacturing teams, and manage projects through completion. This individual will also provide technical guidance to junior engineers, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help optimize machine performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD software, including complex modeling, assemblies, engineering drawings, and bill of materials development.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD 2D drafting software.
• Basic FEA experience required; advanced simulation and analysis capabilities are preferred.
• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and an understanding of complex machinery, precision mechanical systems, and machine tool applications.
• Knowledge of design for manufacturability, component selection, and practical mechanical design considerations.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, evaluate design alternatives, and develop effective engineering solutions.
• Strong project management, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills when working with engineering teams, customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently while contributing to a collaborative engineering environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Education & Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of five years of practical mechanical design experience involving machinery, industrial equipment, or capital equipment, ideally with CNC grinding machines or other high-precision machine tools.
