The Nycor Group represents a client in the West Metro Suburbs of Minneapolis (near Plymouth) seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead system-level electro-mechanical design efforts from requirements flow-down to physical solutions, with a focus on manufacturability and cost.

This role requires 5+ years in mechanical design, proficiency with SolidWorks and ANSYS, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to interface with customers and program managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 5+ years in mechanical design with industrial automation, aerospace or defense exposure.
• Strong leadership, critical thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
• Experience leading system-level architecture and requirements management.
• Excellent communication with customer teams and program leadership.
• Proficient CAD/analysis skills; SolidWorks and ANSYS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead system-level electro-mechanical design efforts from requirements to physical solutions.
• Design actuation and power transmission products; ensure manufacturability and cost targets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and product managers on roadmaps and risk reviews.

Our client located in the West Metro Suburbs of Minneapolis (Nearby Plymouth) is looking to add to their team a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer due to continued growth. For over 70 years this company has partnered with a variety of industries to solve automation application challenges.

Highlights:

• Lead system-level electro-mechanical design efforts, including requirements flow-down, architecture, and physical solutions.
• Design advanced electro-mechanical actuation, pneumatic actuation, and power transmission products using computer aided engineering and precision machine design skills.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, cost, and manufacturability targets.
• Engage directly with product managers, customer engineers and program managers to understand and translate customer needs into robust designs.
• Represent in customer design reviews and program meetings, projecting confidence and credibility.
• Support Product and Program Managers with technical input to development roadmaps, proposals, reviews, and risk assessments.
• Provide subsystem proof-of-performance and lessons learned for future opportunities.
• Develop efficient modular product architectures in a challenging high-mix engineering and manufacturing environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 5+ years in mechanical design with some machine design of industrial automation, aerospace or defense products or similar
• Strong leadership, critical thinking, optimization and decision-making skills.
• Experience leading system-level architecture and requirements management.
• Strong communication skills with ability to interface confidently with customer technical teams and program leadership.
• High mechanical aptitude with a solid background in computer-aided design and analysis. (SolidWorks and ANSYS preferred)
• Familiarity with regulated/mission-critical industries (defense, aerospace, industrial automation)

Annual Salary Rate $110K to $130K plus a complete benefits package
