About the Job: Peak Energy is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Energy Storage Systems (ESS) team. You will work on complex electro-mechanical designs for utility-scale sodium-ion energy storage systems. The role involves mechanical system and component design, collaborating with various teams, and being hands-on, motivated, and autonomous.

Responsibilities:

• Own the design of Peak's High Voltage ESS mechanical systems from architecture to improvement.
• Define product design direction through broad and deep exploration, and communicate decisions effectively.
• Focus on design areas such as high voltage distribution, battery control systems, and power electronics.
• Develop and manage subsystem and component requirements.
• Collaborate with thermal, structural analysts, and other design functions for informed decisions.
• Drive rapid prototyping and testing culture.
• Support validation from concept to deployment.
• Ensure smooth transition from prototype to mass production.
• Maintain a team-oriented, proactive attitude.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanical and thermal engineering.
• Knowledge of power electronics and electrical fundamentals.
• Experience with CAD and PLM software (CATIA or NX).
• Familiarity with FEA/CFD and CAE practices.
• Experience with high voltage battery systems or power electronics design.
• Prototyping, validation, and testing experience.
• Passion for renewable energy and sustainability.
• Eligibility to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Over 5 years of experience with HV batteries or power electronics.
• Design experience for high-volume automated manufacturing.
