Job summary

Hunt Guillot & Associates (HGA) in Baton Rouge, LA seeks a Mechanical Engineering Department Manager to lead the Mechanical Engineering Department, ensuring consistency in procedures and high-quality project execution across locations.

You will mentor engineers, manage staffing and budgets, and drive continuous improvement of engineering systems while coordinating with discipline managers to deliver multi-project work and ensure client satisfaction.

• Proven track record in mechanical design and peer mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Manage the overall performance, workload, and staffing of the Mechanical Engineering Department.
• Enforce consistency in procedures and project execution across the department.
• Ensure compliance with Department Procedures with no exceptions.
• Provide technical leadership and quality oversight for mechanical engineering deliverables.
• Guide staff in optimizing budget, schedule, and quality priorities on assigned projects.
• Partner with leadership to ensure proper utilization of resources and client satisfaction.
• Maintain balance of staff, contract, and outsourced personnel to optimize profitability.
• Develop long-term manpower forecasts and recruit/manage staff to satisfy forecasts and goals.
• Mentor and develop Mechanical Engineers; conduct performance reviews.
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering systems, standards, and workflows.
• Coordinate with other discipline managers to support multi-discipline projects.
• Support proposal development, budget estimating, and staffing plans for Mechanical scope.
• Ensure all Mechanical Engineering work complies with ASME, ASTM, API, and PIP standards.
• Report department status and risks to leadership.
