Job summary

The City of Sunny Isles Beach seeks a senior tradesman to inspect and enforce compliance with laws, regulations, and ordinances for boilers, elevators, HVAC, refrigeration, piping, fuel gas, amusement rides, and related equipment—public or private.

This role focuses on complex technical and administrative work in office settings and in the field to ensure safe and compliant installations and operations within the city.

Qualifications

• Senior-level tradesman position and Essential Position.
• Inspections and enforcement of codes and regulations for mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs systematic site inspections of skilled trades work for new and existing construction to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulatory requirements.
• Verifies compliance with permits, plans and specifications; reviews and approves work of completed projects.
• Collaborates with contractors, engineers, architects, homeowners and staff to complete documentation for permits and licenses.
• Reads and interprets blueprints and specifications for construction plans to ensure compliance with codes.
• Identifies compliance problems, explains codes to violators and conducts re-inspections to verify corrections.
• Issues written notices of violations and follows up on corrective actions.
• Maintains and updates inspection files and reports.
