Job summary

The City of Sunrise is seeking a Chief Mechanical Inspector to lead inspection and plan review for compliance with the Florida Mechanical Code. You will supervise inspectors, review plans, and provide technical guidance to ensure safe, code‑compliant mechanical installations across residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

You will coordinate with contractors and owners, provide expert opinions, and represent the City in enforcement actions, with emphasis on safety and regulatory

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalency diploma.
• Extensive related work experience in mechanical inspections or code enforcement.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and a Florida driver’s license prior to hire.
• Ability to interpret mechanical plans and codes and supervise staff.

Responsibilities

• Supervises inspections of mechanical system installations for compliance with codes.
• Reviews construction plans for mechanical permits and verifies compliance.
• Annotates plans and requires corrections prior to installation.
• Conducts on-site inspections and ensures deficiencies are corrected before use.
• Acts as liaison with contractors, builders, and owners on approvals.
