Job summary

Hydranautics - A Nitto Group Company in Oceanside, CA is hiring a Senior Mechanical and Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement mechanical and automated solutions for membrane manufacturing. You will lead PFMEA sessions, ensure safety compliance, and drive continuous improvement across legacy processes.

The role requires 8–12 years of manufacturing/automation experience, expert 3D CAD skills, and proficiency in PLC/HMI systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
8–12 years of manufacturing or automation engineering experience.
Expert-level mechanical design using 3D CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD).
PLC programming, HMI, servo/stepper drives, pneumatic controls, vision systems.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and commission mechanical and automated equipment for membrane manufacturing.
Lead PFMEA, Machine FMEA, and Assembly FMEA sessions and drive corrective actions.
Develop and govern Control Plans aligned with PFMEA outputs.
Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLC-based automation systems and HMI interfaces.
Document legacy processes and implement engineering change control.
Conduct risk assessments (JHA, machine safety) and ensure OSHA/NFPA/ANSI compliance.
Lead cross-functional project teams through full lifecycle: scoping to handoff.
Develop capital project business cases and manage vendor quotes and procurement.
Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and EHS to resolve reliability issues.
Other duties as assigned.
