Job summary

Mainspring Energy is seeking a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer to shape technical direction across multiple teams within our Linear Generator platform. You will guide system-level design decisions, resolve complex cross-functional tradeoffs, identify risks, and drive architectural leverage through standards and validation strategy.

Ideal candidates have advanced technical ownership across a major subsystem and can operate with high autonomy, framing ambiguous problems and aligning stakeholders

Qualifications

• Proven leadership across complex mechanical systems and subsystems.
• Ability to resolve cross-functional tradeoffs and drive decisions.
• Strong system-level judgment balancing performance, reliability, cost, manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical direction for broad mechanical projects with high ambiguity and major program impact.
• Guide architecture and design decisions affecting multiple projects or teams.
• Frame complex cross-functional problems, identify critical tradeoffs, and align stakeholders on technical paths forward.
• Establish analysis, validation, test, and data strategies for major decisions with incomplete evidence.
• Identify system-level risks, gaps, and blind spots affecting multiple projects.
• Create leverage across teams through reviews, architecture discussions, and technical strategy guidance.
