Job summary

Mainspring Energy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own significant mechanical projects and subsystems for the Linear Generator platform. You will drive full design cycles, validate hardware for production or field use, and lead cross-functional discussions to ensure robust, manufacturable solutions.

The role requires independent ownership of meaningful mechanical design work across multiple cycles, with strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering and the ability to balance

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with demonstrated ownership of mechanical design work.
• Experience designing, testing, iterating, and releasing hardware across multiple design cycles.
• Ability to independently own a significant subsystem or project with ambiguity.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanical design including complex parts, assemblies, fixtures, and structures.
• Proven ability to use analysis, testing, data, and engineering judgment to guide tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Own significant mechanical projects, subsystems, or technical workstreams from requirements and concept through validation, release, and implementation.
• Develop and release robust mechanical designs balancing performance, reliability, cost, manufacturability, safety, and system integration.
• Build and drive project plans, validation strategies, schedules, risk assessments, and release plans.
• Use analysis, test planning, data, and troubleshooting to make design decisions and validate performance.
• Identify and mitigate technical, schedule, and supplier risks before they become issues.
