Job summary

GE Aerospace leads structural analysis and substantiation of aerospace components and systems, using finite element and classical methods to demonstrate strength, vibration, durability, and life requirements. The Lead Engineer partners with design, materials, manufacturing, quality, and program teams to support new product introduction and fleet reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a design, analysis or similar engineering position.
  • US citizenship required to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute linear and nonlinear stress analysis using hand calculations and finite element methods for mechanical components, subsystems and system model from concept to production.
  • Manage technical projects, including planning, scheduling, and risk assessment, to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components and adherence to system requirements.
  • Assess static strength, low-cycle fatigue, high-cycle fatigue, creep, crack growth, burst, buckling, contact and dynamic response.
  • Develop and implement rigorous test plans and validation strategies for mechanical components, analyzing test data and providing data-driven recommendations for design improvements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of component failures and implement corrective actions to improve product reliability and performance.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical expertise and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering, applying relevant advancements to GE Aerospace products.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, design reviews, and project updates to internal and external stakeholders.
