Job summary

Cooper Machinery Services LLC is seeking a Mechanic II to perform hands-on teardown, inspection, rebuild, and testing of engines and compressors. You will use a range of tools and drawings to ensure precise workmanship, while maintaining safety and quality in a busy shop environment.

The role offers opportunities to mentor junior mechanics, participate in major maintenance tasks, and grow technical skills with support from a strong team. Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of mechanical test, assembly/disassembly, or heavy equipment repair/maintenance.
• Ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings, prints, and specifications.
• Proficient with precision measurement instruments.
• Familiar with hydraulic torque tools and related shop equipment.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect, and reassemble engine and compressor components.
• Use manual, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools to fit components.
• Read and interpret drawings and work orders without assistance.
• Measure with micrometers, dial calipers, dial indicators, and bore gauges against tolerances.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Support major maintenance and overhaul activities as part of a team under senior direction.
• Set up and support test cell operations following engineering specifications.
• Review the scope of work before starting any operation or moving any material.
• Complete work orders and inspection records accurately and on time, and guide Mechanic I team members on tasks and procedures.
