Job summary

Cooper Machinery Services seeks a Mechanic II for its McPherson, KS shop. You will disassemble, rebuild, and test natural gas engines and compressors, using precision tools to ensure proper tolerances. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and hands-on skill development on complex equipment.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and 2+ years of mechanical experience in testing, assembly, or heavy equipment maintenance. Overtime, weekends, and holiday coverage may be needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2+ years in mechanical test and assembly/disassembly, or heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
• Able to read drawings, prints, and engineering specifications.
• Comfortable with basic math and reading schematics.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, reposition, reassemble, test, and paint engine and compressor equipment.
• Use hand and power tools to fit and secure components.
• Inspect and repair components in a shop environment.
• Read prints and verify tolerances with micrometers and calipers.
• Identify and report hazards or problems during operations.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
