Job summary

Cooper Machinery Services is seeking a Mechanic II in our Houston Machine Shop. You will disassemble, repair, rebuild and test natural gas engine and compressor equipment for global customers.

You will work with Cooper-Bessemer, Ajax, and Superior equipment, taking pride in precision in a hands-on environment. You’ll need 2+ years of mechanical test/assembly experience, the ability to read prints and specs, and to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in mechanical test and assembly/disassembly, or heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
• Able to interpret drawings, prints, schematics, and engineering specifications, with basic math skills.
• Physically able to push, pull, lift, bend, and perform other physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, position, reassemble, test, and paint moderate to highly complex natural gas engine and compressor equipment.
• Use manual, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools to fit, adjust, and secure components.
• Read detailed prints and take precise measurements with micrometers, dial calipers, and dial indicators.
• Set up and run test operations to engineering specifications.
• Troubleshoot equipment and perform minor maintenance.
• Complete risk assessments before operations and material movements.
• Report problems and hazardous conditions, and keep the shop safe, clean, and organized.
• Complete required documentation and business training accurately.
