Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking an experienced Mechanic B to uphold quality standards and lead preventative maintenance for our fleet. You will diagnose engines, electrical, hydraulics and fuel systems, perform major repairs, manage parts and work orders, and mentor junior mechanics in a fast-paced branch setting.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in heavy equipment repair.
• Ownership of sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs
• Attention to detail
• Ability to read detailed technical schematics and manuals
• Ability to operate equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, generators and hydraulics
• Strong communication and time management abilities

Responsibilities

• Maintain a consistent schedule of performing preventative maintenance of all Herc owned fleet at your branch.
• Operate and test equipment to ensure it passes Herc Rentals quality and efficiency standards.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all Herc fleet equipment and trucks with minimal supervision.
• Diagnose internal combustion engines, DC electrical systems, propane systems, hydraulics, and fuel systems.
• Perform major repairs using diagnostic tools and measuring instruments with minimal supervision.
• Enter work orders and complete part ordering via fleet management system.
• Recondition and replace assorted parts of heavy equipment.
• Maintain work area in a clean and organized manner.
• Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs.
• Assist in training C Mechanics while taking direction from the shop lead.
