Job summary

Standard Meat Company is seeking a Senior Research & Development Specialist to lead complex product development from concept to commercialization across meat and poultry science disciplines. You will work with Culinary, Commercialization, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to deliver innovative products aligned with capabilities and business goals.

The role requires a Bachelor's in a related field, 5+ years in food product development, and experience guiding plant trials and scale-up.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Poultry Science, Biochemistry, or related field required; Master's preferred.
• Minimum five years of progressive experience in food product development, meat science, or related technical role.
• Experience independently leading complex product development projects from formulation through commercialization readiness.
• Experience supporting plant trials, manufacturing scale-up, and commercialization activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical execution of complex product development projects from concept through commercialization readiness.
• Develop and optimize product formulations balancing customer expectations, product quality, manufacturability, regulatory compliance, and business objectives.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute benchtop trials, pilot studies, plant trials, and product validations to support launches.
• Evaluate manufacturing processes, product performance, and technical data to identify opportunities for improvement, yield enhancement, process optimization, and shelf-life performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges and support product development initiatives.
• Analyze complex technical issues and develop practical, science-based solutions for customer and business needs.
• Evaluate and approve ingredients, raw materials, and suppliers for new product development and continuous improvement.
• Prepare, review, and maintain formulations, specifications, SOPs, labeling documentation, regulatory documentation, and project records.
• Present technical findings and project updates to customers, cross-functional teams, and leadership.
• Serve as a technical resource to support complex product development initiatives.
• Maintain project documentation and databases.
• Participate in innovation initiatives, competitive evaluations, product testing, and continuous improvement.
