Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer – MCU Performance Analysis to lead MCU performance modeling, benchmarking, and analysis for SDV platforms. You will collaborate with hardware, ECU, and software teams to translate system requirements into measurable performance targets and test cases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 7+ years of MCU/embedded performance analysis or related experience.
  • Strong understanding of MCU/CPU architecture, pipelines, caches, memory subsystems, buses/interconnects, peripherals, interrupts, real-time constraints.
  • Demonstrated experience defining structured performance analysis plans with objectives, workloads, metrics, and traceability to requirements.
  • Hands-on experience profiling, hotspot analysis, and optimizing embedded/MCU-based systems across performance, power, and memory.
  • Experience developing automation, tools, or scripts for performance analysis and data processing (e.g., Python, C/C++).
  • Experience in workload and benchmark selection, analysis, and development.
  • Ability to present performance insights and trade-offs to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Define MCU performance analysis strategies with KPIs, workloads, benchmarks, and pass/fail criteria.
  • Develop performance specifications to support architecture trade-offs and ECU decisions.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks across cores, memory, interconnects, peripherals, and software stacks.
  • Build MCU performance models for architectural exploration and sizing studies.
  • Select or develop workloads/benchmarks for automotive real-time use cases.
  • Create automation, tools, and scripts for analysis, data collection, and reporting.
