Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Hardware Engineer – MCU to join our Semiconductor Center of Excellence. You will own MCU hardware deliverables for in-house ECU designs, from I/O mapping to validation, collaborating with ECU hardware, software, and safety teams to ensure robust implementations.

You will lead DFMEA, develop electrical test plans, perform hands-on debug with oscilloscopes and JTAG probes on ARM cores, and work with silicon suppliers to align on requirements and timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering.
• 4+ years in hardware design with board-level ownership.
• Experience with MCU subsystems, IP blocks, and interfaces (SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet).
• Hands-on DFMEA, worst-case analysis, and schematic capture tools.
• Board bring-up, electrical characterization, and MCU hardware validation.

Responsibilities

• Own MCU I/O and resource mapping for in-house ECU designs.
• Develop MCU deliverables including HSIS matrix, pin mapping, reference schematics.
• Lead component-level DFMEA for MCU sub-circuits and feed into ECU DFMEA.
• Establish electrical characterization and functional test plans for MCUs.
• Hands-on debug with oscilloscopes and JTAG probes on ARM cores.
• Define MCU-to-peripheral interfaces and manage design changes.
• Collaborate with ECU hardware, HWIO/software, functional safety, Power, and PCB teams.
• Develop clear component specifications to enable timely sourcing decisions.
• Partner with silicon vendors to resolve technical issues.
• Stay current with MCU portfolios and supply-chain dynamics.
