Job summary

General Motors in the United States seeks a Senior Hardware Test Engineer to lead hardware test strategies for state‑of‑the‑art SoC solutions used in next‑generation automotive electronics. You will bring‑up SoCs and ECU boards, develop test plans, and build automated tests to verify functional, performance, and reliability targets.

Collaborate with SoC design, ECU hardware, and software teams to translate system requirements into concrete test cases and coverage metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of hardware validation/test engineering for complex digital systems, SoCs, or high‑integration ECUs.
  • Strong understanding of SoC subsystems/IP blocks from a validation and debug perspective.
  • Hands‑on experience bringing up and testing complex digital boards, including power sequencing, clock/reset validation, and interface bring‑up.
  • Experience creating/executing structured hardware test plans with traceability to requirements.
  • Proficiency with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, and precision measurement tools.
  • Hands‑on electrical characterization across PVT corners (voltage/current, power, timing, margins) and correlation to specs.

Responsibilities

  • Define end‑to‑end hardware test strategies and bring‑up plans for SoCs and components across EVKs, reference boards, and ECUs.
  • Plan/execute SoC and board‑level electrical characterization across PVT corners.
  • Develop/maintain automated test frameworks and scripts to improve coverage and efficiency.
  • Create test content for SoC subsystems (DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, MIPI, USB, SerDes) with margin testing.
  • Characterize signals with lab equipment and root‑cause hardware issues.
  • Collaborate with SoC HW, ECU HW, and software teams to map requirements to test cases.
  • Develop reusable test procedures and documentation for multiple programs.
