Job summary

SandboxAQ in the United States is seeking a Senior Materials Research Scientist to bridge generative chemistry with external validation partners. You will drive the PFAS-substitution workflow, evaluate predicted molecules, rank candidates, and translate experimental feedback into concrete improvements for the team.

You’ll collaborate across computational chemistry, ML, and data science groups to ensure targets meet process constraints and environmental safety requirements while advancing

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science.
• 3+ years post-PhD in industrial or applied R&D in high-purity materials.
• Experience bridging experiment and computation with external partners.
• Proficiency in Python and ability to work with ML/physics teams.
• Familiarity with PFAS or fluorine-free formulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support the partner validation loop—work with external co-development partners as a day-to-day scientific contact.
• Run the discovery workflow, assess predicted compounds, and rank candidates for validation.
• Translate experimental feedback into concrete technical improvements for the team.
• Align targets across internal teams to keep qualification criteria synchronized.
